How names qualify
A name is listed when its recorded meaning contains a nature word (moon, sun, star, fire, sea, sky, cloud, rain, river, tree, forest, mountain, earth, wind, storm, dawn, garden, a flower such as lily or lotus, or an animal such as lion) in a usable position. Light and gemstones are not counted as nature, and neither is the word “nature” itself, which in these meanings describes character (“friendly nature”).
Wording that matched, with the number of names: “flower” (152), “moon” (129), “lion” (107), “star” (83), “tree” (77), “rain” (71), “sun” (69), “garden” (49). The matched wording is quoted for every name.
1,252 of the 1,370 names come from the Muslim-names dataset (Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Turkish, Kurdish and related origins). Names from other traditions appear only where their recorded meaning fits the rule.
3 names matched by the rule were removed after manual review because the meaning uses the word about something other than nature.
Each row shows the meaning recorded for that name in our data. A name can have other meanings and other origins.
